“Portrait of the Favorite Pug” High Quality French Oil Miniature, 1757

Description

This work was painted in 1757 (dated on verso; see legend) by a 1st class French Rocco Artist.
Commissioned by a noble family, it is a portrait of their favorite pug, which looks as if it had just stepped out of an 18th century painting.
The old and authentic inscription(unfortunately, difficult to read) is in French, written on verso in memory of this dear companion. It could reveal even more about this charming lap dog.
Frame has glass on both sides to protect it.
