H. Van Hoeven
Born 1901 Delft Holland comes from a long line of family of artist. His talent manifested itself rather early & he loved fine arts so no question arose to his profession. His career developed smoothly. He graduated with honors from the Royal Acedemy of fine arts in Amsterdam where he teachs today (this was written many years ago). His native town Delft, famous for the old dutch houses were an early inspiration for the favored subject he was to paint later on. Scenses of the old streets are the subjects which are widely known in Holland and many other countries as his work, hardly surpasses in this particular subject by any contemporary. They are very much in demand.
from elsewhere I got:
H. van Hoeven (alternately spelled Hoven) was a twentieth-century artist based in the Netherlands who
specialized in picturesque landscapes featuring urban architecture and canals. A native of Delft, he
trained and later taught at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Amsterdam.
The subject work is a horizontal landscape depicting a city canal surrounded by buildings of various
form and height. Small boats are docked at the shore and a single passerby is seen standing in the
street. The painting is executed with loose, Impressionistic brushwork in a largely restricted palette of
pale brown, yellow, green, and blue tones.
This is a vintage painting and frame. For it's age it is in good shape, minor signs of age. See photo's for description
