Description

Here we have
a
very-vintage,
actual
oil painting done by a talented painter, that is a
skillful *copy* of the most famous of the renowned painter Sir Edwin Henry Landseer's dog paintings --
Dignity and Impudence
. To clarify: this is
not, not, not
the original by Landseer. It is, however, a very-vintage, actual oil painting created by a skilled artist, based on the original Landseer painting. An "after Landseer" work. It is not of the same fine quality of Landseer's, by any means, but it is a very nice painting in its own right, and just a swell piece of dog art to add to your collection. Grafton, the bloodhound on the left, and Scratch, the West Highland Terrier on the right, belonged to the man who commissioned their portrait. Signed illegibly on the bottom right. We usually have quite a few pieces of dog art and figurines in our store at any one time, and although we're usually happy to combine pieces in shipping at actual cost, this piece is really just too big for combined shipping.

We have made no attempt to clean, polish, repair or otherwise alter the appearance of this vintage piece. The solid-wood, painted frame has moderate wear and chipping to the paint, so the appearance is "shabby chic," but in a good way. The frame itself is in excellent working order, very tight, strong and stable, with no structural issues. We haven't inspected the painting outside of the frame, nor have we made any attempt to clean or improve the appearance of the work. From what we can see, the painting has one spot above the dogs' heads where the paint has been rubbed. It is white, and positioned in the middle of a very dark area of the painting, so it does stand out, despite its being small.
There is extensive craculature that appears more prominently at certain angles under certain lighting conditions, as shown in the close-up photo taken at an angle. It mostly shows only when light directly hits it. We don't see any
holes, tears, chips, or rippling, and we see no evidence of moisture damage or repairs. Comes ready to hang.
We consider funky odors (cigarette smoke, mildew, etc) to be an important part of a condition report. Corndogcache is a 100% non-smoking environment, and we'll let you know if any of our vintage items smell like it (
or anything else
) from activities they may have been involved in before they came to us.
