Vintage Theodorus Selhorst Sr.Sailboat. Oil on canvas. Not signed. My father put something on the back of each of his paintings so one day we could know what they are. On the back it says Th. Selhorst
Theodorus Selhorst Sr. (1891-1892) was a Dutch artist who specialized in quaint landscape scenes of
ponds, lakes, and frozen waterways with architectural forms such as windmills, natural fauna and flora,
and, at times, small-scale human figures.
The subject work is a seascape featuring a double-masted sailboat floating near a shoreline; distant
buildings and other sailboats appear in the background.
This is in a beautiful gold vintage frame. There is some damage to the frame (see photo's). The painting is starting to come out of the frame.
