Vintage Donkeys In South West Desert Acrylic on Linen Canvas Signed Padilla

Item up for sale is a adorable vintage oil on linen canvas painting depicting a group of donkeys in what appears to be deserts of the American Southwest or Northern Mexico. This piece is signed "Padilla" with the signature being wrapped around the lower left corner. Painting is a little loose on the stretcher and this combined with the uneven stretching and name being wrapped around leads us to believe a previous owner attempted to fit this into a frame too small for the painting by wrapping it around a smaller stretcher back than it was intended for. Painting shows some small holes around edges where it was improperly nailed into a frame at one point and just below the top edge shows some discoloration where some soiling collected under the framing edge. Frame long ago was removed and as you can see is not present. Back shows some soiling from an unknown source. Bottom edge shows some paint wear from rubbing against a frame with a past owner. Despite it's carelessly displayed past this piece has incredible charm and the artwork is really quite well executed and colorful. Artwork measures 14" top to bottom by 18" wide.
