🔥 RARE Asian Chinese Indonesian Bali Modern Realism Oil Painting, Signed

Description

This is an incredible and engaging RARE Asian Indonesian Bali Modern Realism Oil painting on canvas, depicting a traditionally dressed man with a rooster. The man has a somber expression, but subtle pride washes over his face as he holds the rooster prominently. A woven basket is in the background. The man is shirtless, and wears a traditional red sarong around his waist. This is a very emotional and powerful painting, and a very important and representative work from the Indonesian Realism school of painting. Signed “Ign Martha BALI” in the lower right hand corner. There is a traditional Indonesian dragon face drawn in graphite on the back of the teakwood frame. A tag affixed to the back of the canvas reads: “Purchased by Art Johnson from the artist in Bali Indonesia April 1991.” Acquired from the estate of an elderly world traveler in Southern California. Good condition, but there is one very small scuff (Please see photos.) Approximately 34 1/2 x 42 1/2 inches (including frame.) Actual artwork is approximately 27 1/2 x 35 1/2 inches.
