Original Acrylic Painting On Wood by Jessie Lavon Black Americana Coca~ColaHAND SIGNED BY THE ARTIST
Jessie Lavon is a self taught folk artist who has created her own original style she calls "suthern'ality". Her paintings reflect the life she knew as a child growing up on her grandmothers cotton farm. The clothing patterns she uses in her paintings are taken from the original cloth feed sack patterns that her grandmother used to make her 10 children's clothing.
Some of her works are framed with old barn wood from a nearby barn or most recently she has started incorporating buttons, vintage jewelry and beads into her paintings.
Most of Jessie's memory is lost to her forever except those days on the farm. Jesse has dug deep and planted herself for re-growth for all of us to share. Also, Jessie LaVon is one of the original artists for who over ten years have worked and helped design the floats for the Demopolis, Alabama "Christmas on the River Parade" held annually.
Jessie's art is throughout the U.S.A., Canada and England in private collections and galleries in Washington DC, Georgia, Texas, Alabama, South Carolina. And continuing to grow.
Jessie's art has been shown in Kentucky Festival of the Arts , Emory University,
The Meridian Mississippi Museum of Art, Folk Fest , Fayette Art Museum and numerous galleries. Jessie's art is also documented at the Library of Congress/Folk art Reading Room in Washing D.C.
