incredible miniature signed antique painting in remarkable vintage frame

Description

This painting is listed "1900-1999", but could be earlier. The posted 5 3/4 X 4 3/4" dimensions are for outside the wood frame. The inside oval sits in a fancy oval brass ring measuring about 3 1/2 X 2 3/4". The painting is signed lower right, but I don't know by whom; looks like 'Polung'  or 'Polinary'. Only damage is top edge of frame veneer, which is highlighted in photograph #4. The miniature inlay frame is remarkable in of itself. Now the vintage portrait painting on organic chip is a magnificent antique tribute to an early masterpiece. Absolutely beautiful piece.
