Incredible Gorgeous Signed 1947 Abstract Naive Outsider Art Horse Painting. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail. This painting is just incredible. When I first saw it, I thought it was just an abstract fingerpainting, perhaps in tempura paint. However, upon closer examination, I realized it was a reclining horse. Magnificent and its detail and it’s abstract effect all at the same time. It is signed as “Finger Painting 1947,” and there are initials in the bottom right corner that id one looks at them straight -on appear to be M with two backward E’s. However, if one views it from the side, it could be SMM. I suspect the medium might be tempura, but I have no verification, That is my guess. This was just recently found in an estate in WV. Fresh to the market. It is in 1940s- era frame with matting around it. There does appear to be some water damage to the matting, and certainly some dirt and dust. However, it does not appear to affect the painting itself. It is, what it is. It is a great, evocative, energetic, idealization of a horse at rest. I think the swirling strokes and background as well as the subtle tones are beautiful, and the fact that this was completed as a finger painting makes it more appealing. The frame has some damage on the upper right hand corner and there were some chipping in the left-hand corner on the edges. As stated before, the mat does show dirt and staining. It does not appear to affect the painting itself and the back shows considerate deterioration to the paper dust cover. It is approximately 11 inches tall by 12 1/2 inches wide.
