This is a notable work by this well-respected, widely collected, venerated & highly accomplished Irish landscape artist, who almost exclusively painted in W/C for her entire life. Of course, nearly every artist will have executed adjacent works of art in diverse media, where oil paint was mostly absent from Gladys Wynne's lg body of work & long & quite illustrious artistic career. Many auction houses, such as Christie's of London have prev handled her work, w/her W/C landscape paintings often achieving many thousands of dollars. Here we see a tall stone lighthouse lashed by enormous waves, perhaps from a distant gale, standing firm & steadfast against the onslaught from the sea. This isn't an American lighthouse but a European one, w/features distinct to Ireland & England, w/its stone towering structure. Estate fresh. Untouched. Very fine. Terrific.
