This is the Original Color Serigraph Hand Signed Artist Proof 1/5. AP #1! This beautiful, vintage fine art is titled:
"The Excursion Boat," with colorful docked ships. It comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. I'm guessing this was done likely in the late 1970's. The frame has a small chip, but painting is in Excellent condition.
Francis Atlee Caldwell (1911-1996) was born in San Francisco, and studied painting in Santa Fe with his uncle, Warren E. Rollins, one of the foremost Indian painters in America. He has exhibited at the Whitney Museum of Modern Art, the Chicago Museum of Art, De Young Museum, Los Angeles Museum, Santa Barbara Museum, and the San Diego Museum. Caldwell has worked on the art settings of many motion pictures and television specials, and is well known for his bold strokes, combined with soft subtle tones. He is known for his nautical paintings and has a very distinct style.
