    Description

This vibrant neo-primitive painting (1951) of two women was executed by Ukranian-born artist David Davidovich Burliuk (1882-1967). A student of the Kazan School of Fine Arts and Paris' Ecole des Beaux Arts, Burliuk moved to the United States in 1922 and settled on Long Island, where he continued to paint until his death in 1967. This distinctive portrait features the artist's characteristic expressive brushstrokes and liberal use of color. The piece is signed at the lower left. The visible portion of the artwork is 11.5" by 8.5" while the framed dimensions are 18.25" by 15.25". A striking example of Burliuk's work.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Burliuk
