A fine genre painting by well listed Belgian painter Auguste Chauvin. Signed vertically on lower left edge. Chauvin has a record price of ,753 for a religious themed painting in 2010. An academic portrait sold for 69. This painting is quite different in that it is a genre or storytelling painting that appears to be about the trials of War. A young woman watches in fear as a fire surrounds her.
