    Description

    Here is a wonderful antique folk art oil on canvas portrait of a handsome boy. The painting is framed in a very heavy ,wide and deeply scooped lemon gold frame. The entire piece measures 24 1/2 x 30 1/2 in. The canvas itself measures 17 1/8 x 23 1/8 in. The painting is unsigned as far as I can see ( pretty common), and in good as is vintage condition. It has been restored at some point in time with some in-painting,repaired areas and relining and waxing of the back of the canvas. The frame looks to have been cut down from a slightly larger frame and some miter corners are not totally flush. It is the most deeply scooped ( deep well) picture frame I have ever seen. The finish was a lemon gold which has some spotting,wear and minor chips. Still pretty fabulous. It is a large ,heavy picture frame. I would date this item to the 1840-50s time period.
    A real show piece in any room.Perfect for Federal,Victorian,Folk art,Traditional,Eclectic, and 1800s decors.
