Antique Oil Painting On Canvas Shepherd Huddling Sheep Herd Pen Winter

This is an antique oil painting on canvas of a shepherd huddling his herd of sheep into a building. It takes place during the winter.
I am uncertain as to exactly how old it is, but I would think it dates from around the turn of the century, circa 1900 or so. Please use your judgment.
The painting measures 16 1/4 inches high x 22 inches wide (41.3 cm x 56 cm).
I purchased it as is, without a frame. It is not signed.
I believe this painting was expanded along the bottom in order to fit into the frame it had been in. You can see the holes from the nails going along the bottom and can see it was the original exterior side. On the back, they added a thin piece of wood in order to do this.
There is wear to the painting going around the exterior, which was caused by the frame. There are a few scattered spots where the paint has nicked off. The entire painting is crackled.
It weighs a little over 1 lb. 9 oz. (714 g).
