The faint lt slate blues & violets of the distant mountains can be seen faintly in the distance, w/rose & yellow reflecting the late day sunlight, illuminating the mountain's peak. This Depression-era, pre-WWII O/B New England vista was done by the American artist (who was active in New England) Anstrice C. Kellogg, who signed his name in the lower R corner of the painting in orange paint. The painting is in a vint period 1930's frame, w/a stamped face & gold gilded finish. The blk paper dustcover has torn away but the picture framer's label is still affixed to the back of the frame. Exceptional detailing & impasto paint application. Extraordinary spatial handling & depth of field. Very beautiful.
