1966 Seascape Oil on Board Texas/ California Art Dwight Clay Holmes Laguna Beach

Here is an original work of art by the Texas/ California artist Dwight Clay Holmes, (1900-1986). It is a seascape and the location is noted on the back as "Laguna Beach Calif.". He was primarily a "plein air" artist, and he must have executed a few paintings from this location, as this one is labeled as "Laguna Beach #11". It is an oil on board painting done in 1966. It measures 16" x 20" and to the outside of the frame it is 23 1/2" x 27 1/2". It has suffered somewhat over the years, as it has some flaking in the upper portion, (in the clouds and sky). (The lower part is better, but a small area of flaking on the beach as well). The frame is probably as old as the painting, It has cracks (but it is holding together so far). It is a nice old oil painting by a well known Texas/ California artist.
